The University of Ilorin is determined to admit more students in the next academic session subject to the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for an increase in its admission quota. This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), last Wednesday (March 30, 2016) while featuring on a Radio Nigeria, Harmony FM, Idofian current affairs programme, “Our Guest”. For some time now, the ratio of admitted students to the number of applicants has been a serious concern to universities in the country, admission seekers and their parents. For instance, out of the more than 103, 000 candidates that applied to study in the University of Ilorin in the 2015/2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), only 11, 057 could be admitted due to the low admission quota granted the most subscribed university by the regulatory bodies. This is to inform all the candidates seeking admission into the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) that the university has not released any cut-off marks. The management of the institution implored all admission seekers all rumour about the purported release of the cut off marks for this year’s admission exercise. This rumour has especially gained currency on some unauthorised websites and the social media. We suspect that this unfounded rumour is the handiwork of 419ers whose stock-in-trade is to milk unsuspecting candidates dry! Please don’t fall into their trap. The University will not release any cut off mark until the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the National Universities Commission (NUC) determine the national cut off marks.
