LET THERE BE PEACE
Let There Be Peace
Since we are in the month of Ramadan, let's talk about Islam as a religion.
First, religion is regarded as a source of hope and life to mankind, it said to be the bonds or obligation that exists between man and God or gods. Religion has brought about fear and hope, positivity and negativity, joy and sadness, peace and war, light and darkness, depending on how it is been understood or comprehended by a person.
The religion of ISLAM introduced by Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), who at his demise left source of religious knowledge and practice; HOLY QUR'AN.
So many scholars and persons have relate ISLAM to terrorism, in the name of "Jihad", due to a misconception of the verse of the holy Qur'an in "chapter 2 of suratul baqarah verse 190": "Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, But do not Transgress limits, for Allah love the not transgressors". To my little understanding this verse is talking about self-defense, in which there is an instruction and also an exception to that instruction:
• Those who fight Against you
• Don't begin Hostilities
• Do not transgress limits
• But Aggress Not
While another verse says in chapter 5 vs 2 ; Help one another in what is good and pious not in what is wicked and sinful, have fear of Allah for he is stern in retribution.
Also in suratul Idea, chapter 17 vs 33, the Qur'an forbids killing, stating that " You shall not kill any man whom Allah has forbidden you to kill except for a just cause (but forgiveness is better).
ISLAM as described by the holy book is a religion of peace and love. As well as Christianity.
Today Islam and Christianity are the world's major religions their doctrines are similar.
• Love and understanding is very important, let our scholars and religious leaders preach it and live it. We men have been able to create a very powerful technological advancements, let us do the same thing in creating a better world, where our children and family would live happy and joyous. Let us be for one another, hold ourselves in love either Christian or Muslim it doesn't matter, we all are children and servants of the most high. With God as our source of unity, then we have nothing to fear.
So I say, LET THERE BE PEACE in the world.
My deepest condolences to those affected by the Boko Haram insurgents in the northern part of Nigeria, and also the terrorist attack in London recently.
RAMADAN KAREEM to all Muslims in the world.
Peace be unto you.
Thanks halima
